The fuel filter on a Chevy S10 is easy to change. The purpose of the fuel filter is to trap sediments from getting into the engine. The fuel leaves the gas tank and goes into the fuel filter. The filter then traps the sediments and releases the fuel back into the fuel line. The fuel line then carries the clean fuel to the engine.

WHERE FUEL FILTER IS LOCATED For those who don’t know, the fuel filter is located somewhere in between your fuel tank and your engine. Normally, the fuel filter is either located inside the fuel tank (in the opening of the fuel line, which feeds gas to your car), or somewhere in the fuel line (this is usually at the bottom of your car).

The fuel filter on a GM truck or SUV, is only available as part of the fuel pump module. Replacement means removing the fuel tank to replace the pump. Fuel-tank mounted filters are nothing new. Many vehicles have used them for years. Most in-tank fuel filters are larger than their external counterparts. In theory, they should give many years of service.

The 1999 Chevrolet Blazer uses an in-line fuel filter. This means the fuel line is separated between the gas tank and the engine by a filter, which prevents impurities from getting into the engine. A strainer in your fuel tank picks out the larger pieces of junk and sediment, while the fuel filter traps the smaller particles.

SHOP Fuel Filter And Fuel Line WITH AUTOZONE Just like with any mechanical system, your vehicle needs a sufficient route for fuel to go from the tank to the engine. The gas lines and filters can become rusted and deteriorate over time, in which case you need to replace them before bigger problems arise.

In - Tank pump setups are very similar to in-line options with the exception that the pre-filter is a sock that fits on the inlet of the pump. You will still want to run a 30 (minimum) or 10 Micron (recommended) post pump filter. Once again the Corvette style regulator and filter is a common option for LS swaps.

2. Locate the fuel filter. There are two common locations fuel filters are mounted in vehicles, so you should refer to your vehicle’s service manual to help you determine which place to look. The most common location for modern vehicles is along the fuel line on the bottom of the car, just past the fuel pump.

The first sign of trouble for your canister purge valve is the check engine light. Your canister purge valve is controlled by your car’s computer, which allows it to monitor its performance. If your car’s computer detects higher or lower than expected purging from the valve, it will illuminate the check engine light.
