Other gas options for TIG Welding: Hydrogen & Mix between Hydrogen – Argon Hydrogen and A Mix between Hydrogen – Argon are two other options of shielding gases used in TIG Welding.

Argon is the most commonly used inert gas for TIG welding projects. Since only a few gases can be used for TIG welding, argon is the most popular choice because it’s a versatile gas that can be used on a variety of metals including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Argon is also used to MIG weld stainless steel or aluminum.

TIG welding primarily employs inert gas for a neat finish and no oxidation, while if an inert gas is used entirely for MIG welding, it could spoil the view of the finished weld.
